Q: What's the most difficult thing about being a designer?

A: Letting go of a design concept that you absolutely can envision a success.

Good design takes time--some research, some sketching, a little brainstorming and then that marinating that occurs during deep somber...After all this investment, it's hard to let go.  A good designer knows when to let it go and when to stand firm.  I had a Professor who made it a point to push me to defend my design position with intelligence and integrity. I thank him for the exercises often.

Q: What would you like people to know about your designs?

A: I design to make it better, solve your design challenge and improve your quality of life.

Creative professionals use statements or philosophies describe their work and the premise by which they do what they do.  My design philosophy firmly commits me to create and to support “Work, Live, Play” environments that are nurturing to human awareness.

Q: What have you discovered about design that you didn't know until you became a designer?

A: It's not that I didn't know this before; it's just that before design school, I never thought about it....Everything, all things are by design!

Before design school, I can honestly say that I saw beauty in all things, even a crumpled can or dirty wadded paper on the floor.  I didn't know why, but I just did.  In design school I took classes that educated me on the principles and elements of design.  Then I looked around and saw that everything we know has an aspect of design--Even Earth!  Thinking about this helped me to come up with my personal tag line--Live by Design!

Breaking into the blog...

I have decided to publish a blog and I have decided to approach blogging exactly as I approach designing and living—WITHOUT FEAR. I have a myriad of opinions and tons of knowledge and vast experiences. My inner compulsion pushes me to just share it all! I am excited to have a platform in which to share my design talents and ideas with you and honored that you have chosen to spend your time with me.
